What if you were given a chance to go out on a holiday without any back logs of work in the back of your mind (and not bars holdin you back…be it your financial statement from your beloved bank or your BOSS, not the one at home but the one sitting near your cubicle at your workspace). Which would that place be?
Did you know that a person’s nature can be predicted by the choice of his/her (from next time I’m just gonna use ‘his’ for the personal pronouns so please don’t take me for a sexist or a chauvinist) vacation location.
1) People who love adventurous escapades prefer going to rocky locations where they can trek, camp, go on safaris or do some rock climbing. Some who are a lil more audacious go for mountain trekking on their MTBs or water rafting and bungie jumping.
(you might wonder why in the world I’m numbering these…or are you too lazy to figure out that I just numbered my last point….anyways)
2) People who prefer relaxing during their holidays and are calm by nature (or are OLD…no offence to Projit, Abhishek Agarwal, Rajni Ranjan or Ashish Srivastav and Abdul Kalam) prefer hill stations or places with scenic beauty. They like admiring the beauties of mother nature and the greeneries. This kind of view relaxes the eye (and is light on the purses ‘coz there is no charge on viewing a snow capped mountain or a patch of pine trees). Such kind of people just wanna take a break from the rat race and want to break away from the binds of life or want a romantic but cheap hideout.
3) The other category of people are the ones who like to have fun. Adventurous, but a little less adventurous than the 1st kind and a lot more adventurous than the 2nd kind. (wow….my numbering proved useful…). They like going to beaches, enjoy adventure parks, and love discovering the old and hidden caves and temples. Infact, I tried doin this once when I was young and thought I’d actually found one such hidden cave that wasn’t yet discovered but suddenly this thought just evaporated when I saw “Ashish LuVs Pooja” scribbled on the cave wall with a wax crayon (damn you Ashish…I could have been in the papers…”Young kid discovers a Mesopotamian cave” or “A young prodigy finally finds the remains of the HIDDEN CITY….THE ATLANTIS”). Such people are energetic and fun loving and are also wise….wise enough not to jeopardize the lives of their friends and family to some high tide white waters (Not that the 1st category of people are foolish but they generally don’t travel with family to their escapades)
4) The next category of people are the ones who love being suave and sophisticated and have deeper pockets ofcourse (no I’m not talking about people who wear cargo pants with lots of pockets but people who have no problems spending huge sums on vacations). Such people travel to exotic locations. Locations like Greece, Egypt, etc. Some who can afford love going out on sea on their own yacht (even if though don’t know how to sail a boat).
5) The final category is that of ummm…umm..how do I say this…people in search of spirituality and want to be near God ‘coz very soon they will be going to HIM (please stop making a face….referring to God as Him is not sexism)(last sentence is a polite way of saying the harsh word….OLD….again no offence to you Projit nor to you Abhishek, Rajni and Ashish Srivastav). They like to go visiting temples and shrines (I call it ‘Teerth Yatra’ even if it’s just a vacation) and ask for forgiveness for all the sins they committed during their lives. (oh c’mon is it that easy to just commit a sin and wash it in the Holy Ganges…I don’t think so…anyways, no harm in trying your luck…sure go ahead try your luck washing your sins).
So which category do you fall in? Which place would it be? A dip in the holy ganges? A week in Athens? Day n Night on the beaches of Goa? 3 day and 2 Night stay at Manali? Or a sweaty but thrilling trekking cum camping trip in Ladakh?
I’ve traveled to nearly 20 states in India but still feel that I haven’t even started exploring India. Just in this year of 2009 I’ve visited 10 states (courtsey to Katwaria Sarai and dad). The locations still on my hit-list include Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar, Rishikesh (no not for the shrines obviously) & Greece (ya ya you read that write…it’s GREECE).
But remember...Living your dreams is the biggest adventure you can take...everything else is just a compromise on your vacation list.
Yours truly,
Siddhant (aka xANDER)

Global Warming gets a BAILOUT
It’s been quite some time since I released my new volume of the journal of Unlimited Bullshit. The reason behind not publishing my journal is simple; RECESSION. And ‘coz of recession I had lack of human resources and hence the lack of intellectual bullshit.
I feel the people are being too (read as TOO) liberal with the word RECESSION these days. You see any unaccepted phenomenon happening and ask why is it happening, I’m sure someone around you will answer “I guess it’s because of RECESSION and the Financial Turmoil”. Those days aren’t very far when your maid servant reaches to work late and you ask “What happened? Why are you late?”
And her answer will be “Ab kya batayein didi….ye recession ne to jaan hi le rakhi hai”.
I feel when this recession is gonna be over I’m gonna miss it (stop laughing I’m serious). This recession thing is just like a popcorn that gets stuck between your teeth. You keep on trying to remove that popcorn from your teeth and after it goes away you kind of miss it. You feel something’s missing. Recession is quite like that. I won’t be able to make excuses related to recession after all this is over.
If you were to choose one of the lesser evils out of RECESSION and GLOBAL WARMING…which one would it be? So which one will it be? Which one do you want to stay? Recession or the global warming? Think…
I think because of recession there has been an affect on the global warming too (I’m serious….stop laughing). You see after recession many companies went down (so down that they had to bite the dust….donno who framed this phrase ‘bite the dust’…..how can one bite the dust, it’s so fine…ok whatever). For instance companies like Ford & GM incurred such heavy losses that they had to cut down on their production. Now that the production of such huge automobile majors was reduced, obviously the requirement of steel must have reduced and therefore the production of steel must have been lowered. And therefore, there might have been lesser emissions of CO2. As a result of which the global warming which was escalating at an alarming rate must have had reduced a little because of the reduced production of the greenhouse gases (Oh so that’s the reason Delhi’s maximum temperature is still hanging in the early 40’s). Kudos to RECESSION. (Stop laughing....I mean it)
Disclaimer: Please do not sue me over any disparities between the truth and what I wrote because one tends to write such bullshit when he’s getting hell bored back at home (now you can laugh as much as you like on my condition)

Unconditional Love
We always say dogs are man’s best friend but why don’t we ever say it the other way round. Why don’t we say Man is dog’s best friend?
Few days back I was at a pet shop. Returning from it I realized dogs are no more considered as a companion or someone you can be with or play with, but now they’ve become more of a commodity that is owned by people who either keep them as guard dogs or as show pieces. If someone wants a dog why does he always go out to a pet shop and buy the most beautiful and most the popular and healthy dog? Why can’t a person just pick a dog from a street? Even street dogs can act as guard dogs. Oh yes, ladies can’t show off to their girlfriends during their kitty parties and men feel ashamed while walking them in a park. Pugs are today sold at over Rs.11k after the Hutch (now Vodafone) ads gained popularity. Supply Vs. Demand curve making its way here too. Sad…
Just try bending over in front of a dog and he’ll respond quickly by arching his body and bringing his front legs pointing at you (as if trying to yawn), an action asking you to play with him. Dogs are the most playful creatures you can ever come across. Start scratching their heads and they’ll just close their eyes and enjoy the love being bestowed upon them. Dogs love being pampered but for such pampering they need not go to a spa for getting a massage. A lil scratch on the head will do. Neither do they have to go to a vacation at some exotic place to enjoy. A long car ride and an open window for them to pop their head out will do.
Ask a person what he (or she) hates most and I’m sure he will narrate a long list of things which he hates. Ask a dog and he’ll say the only thing he hates is SOLITUDE. Dogs just can’t stand being alone. I always wanted to have lots of dogs. Soon I’ll start working and the first thing that I wanted to get myself from my first salary was a dog friend. But then the only reason I can’t have one is that there won’t be anyone around him when I’m gone. Dogs cry when you leave them alone and they cry with happiness when you come back. I remember my pet in Allahabad (was named Prince….and he took that name quite seriously and so wanted a princely treatment). He was potty-trained quite late, but then he never soiled our home after he was trained. He would control it till 7AM in the morning ‘coz that was the time when my grandpa would take him out for his walk. BUT UNFORTUNATELY the train by which I traveled to Allahabad would always reach at 5:30AM and so I always reached home before his walk. And as soon as I would open the main gate he would smell me and start barking and jumping with joy. He’ll go crazy and will throw himself all over me. And in all this moment of EXCITEMENT he would forget that all this time he was holding on to something (something really stinky n wet). As soon as he would jump on me he would release all his love and along with love he would release SOMETHING else too. The problem here was whether to return the favor by playing with him, shouting at him for soiling me or to go to the washroom and get cleaned up. I’m writing all this ‘coz this is the first time all this did not happen when I reached back to Allahabad. And NO, I’m not glad that this did not happen and my clothes weren’t wet from someone’s urine when I entered the home but I was sad ‘coz I missed that feeling with which I was welcomed each time I reached home. He couldn’t get up to welcome me ‘coz now he’s got old and is suffering from a life-threatening tumor. I feel sorry or rather sad when I see him all by himself. I know his end is near and that makes me feel a bit lighter ‘coz this way he won’t have to bear the solitude and the pain any more. I’d seen Marley & Me a couple of weeks back. Marley very much reminded me of Prince and so did the end of the movie. I just wish Prince’s end also comes as quietly as it came for Marley.
Many of my friends (specifically GIRLS) scream at the sight of a dog. They’re afraid of the long canine teeth. Yes, dogs love chewing fingers when they are small (small….not the fingers but the dogs) but they don’t just attack anybody….duh. I know I can go up to any dog and he’ll be happy to meet me ‘coz every dog loves making friends. Its simple maths: More friends means more love. More love means more dog biscuits (directly proportional you see).
I remember the time when my friends would ask who’s my best friend and I used to get all baffled as to what should I answer. If I answer Vicky, Ritesh will feel bad and if I answer Ritesh, Vinay will feel bad. So I always answered “My best friend is Prince”. Obviously I never meant it when I said that ‘coz at those times I tried being diplomatic. But today I think my answer was absolutely right ‘coz no matter what the conditions are the only living being that’s gonna feel happy ALWAYS on seeing you is a DOG…and this is the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE that dog promises a man.
